Spectacular box which encapsulates the best of the Regency era. Rectangular outline with hinged raised cover with stylish gadrooning edges, raised on its original stand with a central leaf capped bulbous central support, ending on an inverted platform with carved beaded detailing, raised on four carved paw feet.
Condition: Superb condition for such an early piece with good richly coloured patination, no restoration anywhere, complete with lock, key does not turn, later re-lined in red felt, nicely done. Just to mention for accuracy there is tiny evidence of lid not meeting, see last image, right side of front.
