606. Silver Cased Compensated Weather Barometer Superb Royal Provenance Alfred Clark
This is a very Rare and Superbly made Sterling Silver Cased Compensated Weather Barometer – The Silver Assay Marks inform us that it was made in 1900 by the famed Silversmith, Alfred Clark who at that time worked from 33 New Bond Street, London. Alfred Clark was Silversmith to The Prince of Wales.
This wonderful Barometer was made for The Prince of Wales in 1900 as it bears The George V initials and Prince of Wales Coronet. ‘E. G. Barrow 1911’ refers to General Sir Edmund George Barrow (1852–1934), a senior British Indian Army officer who served as the Aide-de-Camp General to King George V from 1911 to 1912.
This item was engraved and gifted to Sir Edmund Barrow in 1911. Items made by Alfred Clark for The Price of Wales at this time are now in the Royal Collection. The public investiture of Edward Prince of Wales took place in 1911 after George V became King in 1910. Edmund Barrow was made General Officer Commanding the Southern Army in in India in 1908. This super rare piece of British History was most likely a Gift from George V to Barrow possibly on their parting as Aide de Camp. Full working Order. This is a Museum Quality Piece.

Condition: Superb condition, full working order with no losses. Good clear markings which date for 1900. Tiny character dent at side.
