617. Antique Burl Walnut Welling Chest Drawers Irish Provenance Sir Thomas Kelly-Kenny
Stunning example of an early Victorian Burl Walnut Welling Chest of traditional form and wonderful provenance, circa mid Nineteenth Century and possibly of Irish manufacture.
Flanked by twin lockable pilasters enclosing seven graduated drawers with mahogany lined drawers and original turned handles, this wonderful piece ends on a square platform base.
Condition: Superb condition with no losses, no evidence of repairs, recently professionally re-polished. Lock and key are present and working, all drawers are very smooth to use.
Height: (overall as shown) 50.75” (129cm). Width: 22.5” (57cm). Depth: 16.5” (42cm).
Location: Dublin City, Ireland.
Provenance: From the collection of The Boer War General, Irishman Sir Thomas Kelly-Kenny, the first Irish Catholic to be made a Lieutenant General in the British Army.
