A Very Substantial and Complete Set of Hand Carved Chinese Export Jacques Style Barleycorn Pattern Bone Chess Set, together with a set of Draught pieces, first half of the Nineteenth Century. 

Both sets comprising opposite pieces in natural and red-stained bone. Rooks modelled as castle towers, Bishops as open mitres, Knights as carved horses, Pawns with ball finials. King and Queens with concentric rings to the central areas. 

Condition: Good condition with nice surface patination, some chips here and there and a few hairlines also. The red sets have been re-dipped in red cochinel, one red Pawn is a little shorter. 

Height of King: (an impressive just over) 4.25” (11cm).
