An exceptionally fine quality example of a framed German Victorian Oil Painting on Artists board of compact size depicting Cavaliers in Landscape. Complete with its original good quality ornate gilt frame. 

Last quarter of the Nineteenth Century. 

Three Cavaliers, one mounted on horse, and a woman playing a game beside a seated child looking on. 

Condition: Good condition recently professionally cleaned and put back together, ready to hang. Signed lower left H BRELING and dated 1880.

German Painter known for his historical and genre scenes. He was the first Artist in what would later become known as the “Artist Colony” at Fischerhude, a small village between Bremen and Hamburg in Northern Germany, see last image. 

This offering is a wonderful example of his early work.
