791. Antique Georgian Sterling Silver Set Four Salts Glass Liners 1772 Edward Lowe


An Outstanding and Rare Museum Quality Identical Set of Four Neo Classical George III third Sterling Silver Table Salts of oval outline raised on four ball and claw supports, complete with their original heavy gauge blue glass liners with seldom seen hand star cut base decoration underneath, attractive rope twist upper rimmed borders. 

Mark of EL for Edward Lowe, a small time London Silversmith 1770-1777. 

An identical example of a pair can be seen at The Metropolitan Museum Collection. 

Assay mark for London 1772 

Condition: Good condition with nice patination, original firm fitting hand blown blue glass liners are perfect. These exceptional pieces seem to have had little or no use since they were made two hundred and fifty years ago.  

Height: 2” (5cm).  Width: 3.5" (9cm). Depth: 2.5” (8.25cm).
