Absolutely stunning French chisel cast Medieval revival Lady's Jewlery Casket of Museum quality, made during the third quarter of the Nineteenth Century. Retailed by Maison Boissier Paris France. 

The slightly cushioned wide hinged lid is decorated with five roundels depicting working figures, within an attractive double beaded border, on all four sides with similar cast decoration punctuated with birds and animals. The casket is raised on its original four toupie supports.

Condition: Good condition with nice surface patination, professionally re-gold plated. The interior has been re-lined with a luxury navy woven velvet fabric, beautifully done, lock is present, lacking key.

The story of Maison Boissier begins in 1827, when Béllissaire Boissier, the founder and chocolatier set up his first stall on the Boulevard des Capucines in Paris. His first shop was in Place de l’Etoile, now known as the Place Charles de Gaulle. Béllisaire’s incredible creations became a great success, quickly favored by the ladies of Parisian high society. Carriages would stop outside of his shops to allow Parisians to replenish the stock of their favourite chocolate treats. French romantic Writer and Politician Victor Hugo, French Novelist, Journalist and Playwright Emily Zola, and Alexandre Dumas also a French Novelist and Playwright were Boissier’s regular clients.
