732. Antique Grand tour French Bronze Sculpture Male Figure Cherub Clodion Barbediene

An Exceptional Example of a chisel cast French Patinated Bronze Figural Group of a Satyr and a Male Figure holding a Baby Bacchus after Claude Michel Clodion (1738-1814) in dark patination offered complete with its original circular bronze stepped base. Mid Nineteenth Century. 

The standing figural group dressed in flowing drapery, the bronze cherub with its hair decorated with ivy leaves and berries. 

Clodion popularized this subject and created a number of variations of the theme, this example is stunning. 

Condition: Superb untouched condition, with impressed mark CLODION.
