An exceptionally fine quality early English Well Figured Solid grained Burr Burl Walnut Ladies or Gents Travelling Writing Slope of outstanding quality and compact proportions. Last quarter of the Nineteenth Century. 

The hinged lid opening to reveal a stunning original fitted interior with a later woven fabric writing area with lavish gold leaf tooled decoration. The rectangular dome shaped top lid with central diamond shaped inlay decoration plaque.   

Condition: Professionally restored retaining its wonderful rich reddish brown colour. Box closes firmly with no gaps. Lock and key are present and work perfectly, crystal ink bottle is of a later period, nice original firm hinges.
