An Exceptionally Fine Quality English Well Figured Burl Amboyna and Coromandel Ladies or Gents English early Travelling Writing Slope of outstanding quality and unusually large proportions, with quite unusual Pewter strung inlay and highly ornate Mother of Pearl scroll work inlay decoration, early 19th Century, complete with original fitted interior, to include two secret drawers.
The hinged lid opening to reveal a fitted interior with its original woven dark red fabric writing area. The rectangular flat top lid with a central decorative inlaid plaque.
Condition: Professionally restored with its original writing fabric area which has evidence of use with the central folding hinged area has some splitting in areas. Lock is present and working with key. Two crystal ink bottles of a later period.
