A Fine Early to Mid Nineteenth Century French Ormolu and Porcelain Mounted Mantle Clock of outstanding Quality and impressive proportions. Eight-day duration movement, striking the hours and half hours on a bell, with an outside countwheel.
The circular white enamel dial having dark blue Roman hour numerals, black outer Arabic five-minute markings, gilt brass decorative pierced hands. Signed Gantier A Paris and the movement with a circular plaque reads “Vincenti et Cie Medalle Dargent”.
The Ormolu case with a central seated Cherub holding an etched plaque amongst floral swags. The main clock case is lavishly decorated with hand painted porcelain Sevres style inset plaques with raised tooled gilding, raised on original four beaded toupie feet.
Condition: Superb condition complete with pendulum and key. Original cushioned glass hinged door is present, some loss to gilding at high points.
