An Exceptionally Fine Quality Pair of English full lead Crystal and Sterling Silver Ladies Scent Bottles of exceptionally large proportions and of outstanding quality,
The silver gilt hinged lid decorated with a raised group of figures above a lavish reticulated silver overlay with raised scrolls and flowers which covers almost the entire body, on all four sides a star cut crystal window is visible with similar cut decoration underneath of each.

Condition: Good condition for such early pieces, no losses to silver, no chips to glass. Good clear silver marks, original firm fitting stopper inside is present only on one. Both top lid button mechanism is lacking, both lids close firmly.

William Comyns & Sons was founded by William Comyns in about 1859 in London. He was joined by his two sons Charles & Richard in 1885. His work always of exceptional decorative quality, found favour in the early 1800s and by the early 1900s he was supplying a number of Londons top retailers, including Henry Louis of Bond Street, Carrington & Co. of Regent Street also at Tiffanys in New York.
The firm produced large numbers of die stamped wares, including the famous Reynolds Angels design, also specialized in fine silver mounted on Tortoiseshell work. The quality of Comyns work was astounding and encompassed all known manufacturing processes used by a Silversmith.
