401. Antique Japanese or Chinese Carved Soapstone Gentleman Figure Meiji Period


An impressive and quite rare Hand Carved Soapstone Standing Asian Figure of a Japanese or Chinese Gentleman standing on one foot, carrying a circular disk type object on his back, ending on a square Sopastone carved base on a square polished brass platform. 

The carving is in colours of browns and dark cream, made in China during the last half of the Nineteenth Century 

Condition: Good allover condition, with no losses to carving. The base is bolted to the body underneath. 

Height: (entire including brass base) 9.25" (23.5cm). Width: (at base) 4.25" (10.5cm). Depth: (at base) 4.25” (10.5cm).
