A Stylish Example of an Early Victorian Country House Style Identical Pair of Heavy Duty Burnished Stel and Polished Copper Fire Dogs, Chenets or Andirons of unusually large proportions. Mid Nineteenth Century, possibly earlier of English or French origin. Third Quarter of the Nineteenth Century, possibly earlier.
Each upright modelled with a single surmounted steel claw grasping a copper ball, above two slender splayed legs ending on hoof feet, centered with a copper fan and ball detail.
Condition: Exceptional condition, for such early pieces, possibly never used, no losses anywhere, professionally re-polished.
