764. Antique English Victorian Pair of Coalport Urns Vases Centerpieces John Randall


Wonderful Identical Pair of Early English Porcelain China Flared Rim Urns with very ornate gilt twin handles modelled in the Rococo taste, firmly attributed to Coalport and painted by artist John Randall. Mid to late Nineteenth Century. 

Each central oval reserve exquisitely hand painted depicting children in period costume in landscape, within a raised tooled gilt surround on a pale green ground, the back with hand paintings of still life of flowers. 

John Randall spent two years at the Royal Rockingham factory in Yorkshire afterwards moved to Coalport in 1835 where he remained for the rest of his career. During his lifetime he was a notable porcelain painter, geologist, publisher and a local historian. He died in 1910 at the age of one hundred years. 

Condition: Superb condition for such early items, no wear to gilding at high points and no staining inside, possibly never used, both pieces are unmarked.
