602. Antique Asian Chinese Porcelain Blue White Gourd Vase Tongzhi Period 1856-1875


A Very Fine Quality Example of a Chinese Double Gourd Blue and White Porcelain Stonewear Porcelain Vase of tall proportions, complete with its original carved fret work hardwood base 

Mid Nineteenth Century. Tongzhi Period 1856-1875. 

With twin reticulated handles. Exquisitely hand painted in blue underglaze depicts Caishen, God of Wealth riding a Tiger on the lower gourd, surrounded by scrolls and flowers, a stylized flower border and a Chinese Dragon in a border in the upper panel  

Condition:  Of lightly used appearance, no visible restoration or imperfections which is rare for such an early Chinese item. Back and front views are similar. 

Height: (entire as image one) 16.75" (42.5cm). Diameter: (at widest area) 8.25" (21cm).
