L’Arc de Triomphe was created by Architects Jean-Francois Therese Chalgrin and Jean-Arnaud Raymond, took thirty years to build from 1806 to 1836.
Built to commemorate French soldiers that had died in the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, the imposing arch, completed in 1836 under the rule of Louis Phillipe, became a highlight stop for individuals on the Grand Tour in the second half of the 19th century.
Fine example of an increasingly difficult to find Grand Tour model of such impressive weight and size.
