166. Exquisite French Regency Period Ormolu Bronze Twin Ink Stand

An Exquisite Example of an Ormolu & Patinated Bronze Twin Ink Desk Stand - Encrier, of traditional rectangular form. Made during the first half of the Nineteenth Century, of French origin. 

The main rectangular well veined green marble base with well cast hinged lid ormolu ink wells complete with their original porcelain liners, surmounted with a patinated bronze figure of Giuliani de Medici after Michelangelo.  

This delightful piece stands on four decorative ormolu toupie feet.  

Condition: This entire piece has been professionally re-gold plated & bronze patinated, losses to marble at all corners, small area of pitting on marble top at left.
