An Exceptionally Fine Quality Irish Burr Walnut Pedestal Desk of medium proportions, third quarter of the Nineteenth Century made in Dublin by Carey and Ashenhurst.
The solid rectangular outline top with moulded edge inset with superb green gold leaf tooled leather very beautifully re-done above three drawers flanked by six further drawers complete with original elegant turned wooden handles, each pedestal ending on a platform base, with their original casters.
Condition: Superb condition, this piece has recently been professionally restored in keeping with its period finish. Made in three sections for easy shipping and placing. Old paper label as per final image.

Carey & Ashenhurst began making furniture in 1815 from workshops at 54 York Street, later in the Nineteenth Century moved to 138 Lower Baggot Street where they traded as Cabinetmakers, Upholsterers and Undertakers.
This is indeed a very rare Desk made of exceptional well figured Burr Walnut in very good condition for such an early piece.
