952. Antique Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Table Lamp Albert Gregory Still Life Flowers


Stunning English Porcelain Royal Crown Derby Twin Handle Hand Decorated Vase of ovoid outline and generous proportions, now converted to an Electric Table Lamp, painted by Albert Gregory. Circa 1900 

The delicate twin handles, neck and foot with classical mouldings picked out in gilt. The central reserve hand painted with a bouquet of flowers. Signed lower right A. Gregory. 

The reverse with a smaller spray reserved in a rich cobalt blue ground, edged with gold borders. Raised on a sturdy circular ormolu stepped base. 

Condition: Superb condition with no evidence of any restoration. Mount and base professionally re-gold plated.  

Height: (an impressive, entire) 18” (45.5cm). Width: (at widest, arms) 7.25” (15.5cm). Diameter: (at base) 5” (12.5cm).

Albert Gregory was a renowned porcelain artist most noted for his work at Royal Crown Derby being one of their best artists of floral studies ever in the late 19th and early 20th century, working on some of the factory's finest pieces at the time. He also worked at other factories during his career including Minton.
