SUPERB PAIR EARLY BRONZE BUSTS BACCHUS & ARIADNE

An Exceptionally Fine Quality Pair of Patinated Bronze Busts cast in high crisp relief of Bacchus &  Ariadne.  Raised on square stepped well veined period marble bases, each supported by four ormolu toupie feet.

Second quarter of the Nineteenth Century.

Bacchus “God of agriculture & wine” His hair adorned with ivy leaves and berries. His lover Ariadne the daughter of King Minos of Crete.

Condition: Good untouched condition with no losses and very good surface patination to bronzes. No visible foundry marks, in our opinion they are of French origin.
