742. Rare Irish Waterford Cut Crystal Jug Circa 1800


RARE IRISH CUT CRYSTAL PITCHER CIRCA 1800

An extremely rare Irish Heavy Gauge Deep Hand Cut Crystal Water Jug of baluster form with applied tapering swan neck handle. Circa 1800, possible made by the original Waterford Glass Works, or could be of Cork Glass origin.

The main lower entire body with meticulously executed diamond cut pattern, the plain base with polished pontil.

Condition: This piece is offered in original very good condition, with no evidence of any losses to crystal, no inside clouding, wonderful evidence of age wear at base.

Height: (entire) 7.5” (19cm). Diameter: (base). 3.5” (9cm).

NOTE: See “IRISH GLASS” by Phelps Warren, pages 226 & 236 which shows similar jugs which seem to have been made in Cork.

This is a wonderful example of rare early Irish Crystal of very fine quality in exceptional condition for such an early piece.
