690. Irish Rosewood Mother of Pearl Tea Caddy Austin Dublin


An Absolutely Stunning & Rare Irish Well Figured Rosewood Double Tea Caddy of Sarcophagus outline. First quarter of the Nineteenth Century.

The main outer case with lavish inlay decoration of mother of pearl and abalone with fine brass stringing.

Made in Dublin by Cabinet Maker George Austin.

The caddy stands on its four original rosewood bun supports, with twin ring handles.

 

Condition: Superb untouched condition.

Attached plaque reads "Geo Austin South Andrew Street Dublin" Austins were manufacturers of portable Writing Slopes, Dressing Cases, Work Boxes during the Nineteenth Century.
