A lone figure on a rocky coastline with purple heather and several Irish Cottages in the distance at the water's edge. The light is wonderfully captured as it bounces off the sea before a mist covered mountain, amidst typical Irish grey skies. Signed lower right H Moxton Cook.
Condition: Good fresh unfaced colours, professionally re-mounted and re-framed.

Herbert Moxon Cook Biography:
A well respected Oil Painter & Watercolourist specializing in Landscapes and Seascapes. He was born in Manchester, lived in London and then later in his career Prestatyn, North Wales. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and the British Institute from 1866.
This is a very fine large example of his work showing his mastery of this genre, wonderful subtle use of colours and attention to texture.
